*POSITION REPORTS TO*: Business Administrator *POSITION CLASSIFICATION*: Regular Part-time - Hourly *POSITION SUMMARY*: _The individual in this position performs a wide variety of administrative, clerical and recordkeeping duties as well as responding to questions and requests from church members, staff members, and outside agencies.
_ *DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES*: * Greet and assist visitors to the church office or on the phone in a courteous and helpful manner, providing assistance, answers to questions or directing to appropriate individual, as applicable * Fulfill secretarial responsibilities of pastors as requested * Provide staff support and serve as assistant to program staff * Work with the Director of Music and Worship to prepare, print, and fold worship bulletins.
* Assist the Coordinator of Branding, Marketing and Technology in developing social media posts and distributing weekly e-news to members and participants of FUMC * Mail worship bulletins and E-news highlights to those who request them * Attend all church staff meetings as scheduled * Maintain supplies and see to the restocking of a variety of items such as pew pocket cards and brochures, pencils, Upper Room, office supplies, as well as other related items * Work with and provide training/assistance to office and administrative volunteers, performing duties such as creating work schedules, assigning work, providing direction and other information, etc.
* Create and distribute reminders to various committees, worship volunteers, and others as needed * Maintain (and perform other necessary duties related to) church calendar, the hospital board, birthdays, upcoming funerals, birth announcements, etc.
* Assist various members and or groups within the church (UMW, UMM, Committees, etc.
) with mailings, contacting members, coordinating events, etc.
* Work with wedding couples regarding all needs and arrangements provided by the church and needed for services/receptions * Receive and process requests for assistance and manage schedule for individuals making requests to meet with Associate Pastor * Work with the Facilities Manager and Business Administrator to schedule the use of church vehicles and room use assignments throughout the church facilities * Assist Business Administrator with input of contributions to First UMC * Perform other related duties as requested by the Business Administrator or Senior Pastor in a manner which fosters trust and teamwork with staff, church members and others using the services and/or facilities of FUMC *QUALIFICATIONS*: *Education and Experience*: · Any combination of education, experience and/or training that will allow the individual in this position to effectively perform the require duties *Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*: * Ability to work 28 hours per week in the Church office.
Normal schedule would be Monday -Thursday during the office hours of 9:00 a.
m.
- 5:00 p.
m.
* Knowledge of administration and clerical practices * Ability to positively and effectively work with program, administrative and support staff as well as volunteers, church members, visitors and others as needed * High degree of skill in using a computer and software packages designed for use by the church * Ability to operate a variety of office equipment * Skill in accurately recording and organizing information and prioritizing work daily * Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and integrity in processing sensitive and confidential information * Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions * Ability to undertake responsibilities with initiative and good judgment and to assume accountability for work performed * Within the scope of skills and ability, willingness to be cross trained in other functional areas and to provide assistance as needed * Preferred – Knowledge of web, social media, and e-mail distribution, design, and maintenance Job Type: Part-time Pay: $12.
50 - $15.
