SUMMARY: Responsible to the Director of Libraries.
The library assistant will be responsible for supervision of the library at night.
This will mainly include assisting with student research and computer usage.
However, this position will also be responsible for helping to answer reference questions, answer the phones, shelve books and close up the library and other duties as assigned.
This position is located on the Enid campus.
This position is located on the Enid campus and includes afternoon and evening hours, with up to 30 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:
Assisting in student research and computer usage
Answer reference question
Check in and out books as well as shelve them.
Close up the library in preparation for security
Subject to satisfactory Fair Credit Reporting Act Disclosure which includes a criminal background check.
Perform all other duties necessary to accomplish the educational objective of the College and/or as assigned by the Director of Libraries or his assistant.
QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills as well as expertise to accomplish the above essential duties and responsibilities are required.
The Library Assistant must preserve confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.
Team player with strong organizational and customer service skills; effective oral and written communication skills; proficiency of with computers are required.
Must be able to work under pressure; be punctual, courteous and maintain professionalism when dealing with individuals.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A minimum educational level of an associate degree.
Preferred a minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, push, lift, dig, haul, pull, reach, carry, lift, grasp, squat or stoop, bend and twist the body, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk or hear while performing essential duties.
The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
