Position Description
May operate several types of power construction equipment such as a Crane (hydraulic and friction, rubber tire, track and tower), Drott (Carry Deck) and/or Boom Truck to lift to move, and position loads, such as machinery, equipment, products, and solid or bulk materials.
This must be done in a safe and timely manner with the highest quality possible.
Job Responsibilities
Operate equipment which lifts, hoists or moves materials for construction purposes.
Move hand levers, adjusts hand wheels and depresses pedals to drive machines and control attachments such as swing booms.
May maintain equipment using grease gun and oil can.
May direct workers engaged in placing blocks and outriggers on cranes.
Fasten attachments, connect hydraulic hoses, belts and linkages.
May perform minor repairs.
Inspect equipment on daily basis to ensure safe operation before use.
Must be knowledgeable in OSHA regulations regarding hoisting methods and practices, swing barricades and back up alarms.
Must be able to verify load weights, understand standard hand signals, operate equipment within manufacturers’ specified limits and be able to read and interpret load charts.
Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
Assess weather conditions prior to attempting the lift.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have completed a Crane course at a certified trade school or seminar.
NCCCO or NCCER certification
Must pass certification prior to operating equipment.
DOT physical - (annual physical examination may be required).
OSHA 10 training and a minimum of 1000 hours seat time in the field.
Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/coworkers and understand direction from supervisor.
Utilize basic math to calculate load weights and balance points.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, operate moving equipment and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.
Vision of at least 20/30 (based on Snellen chart) in one eye and 20/50 in the other eye, with or without corrective lenses.
Ability to distinguish colors, regardless of position, of color differentiation is required for crane operation
Adequate hearing, with or without hearing aid, for specific types of crane operation.
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively.
Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments
40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work
Background check and drug screen based on job location/requirements
