Some evenings and weekends are required for special events Faculty Appt Period: Job Summary: The College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT) at Oklahoma State University is a comprehensive unit featuring world class instruction, research, extension and online learning.
We are seeking a Communications Specialist to join the CEAT Marketing and Communications team.
Our team works closely with the leadership of the college to develop and implement appropriate content across multiple communications platforms in order to highlight the college within the OSU community, as well as the state, region and country.
The Communications Specialist supports the CEAT Communications Coordinator in developing and maintaining new and existing content for the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology.
The Specialist will write copy for news releases, magazines, newsletters, ads, social media, websites and other marketing projects.
They will support CEAT departments in creating and maintaining engaging, accurate, well-written content on the CEAT website and other digital platforms.
The Specialist must understand the communications goals of the College and will work closely with the dean, academic units, research, extension units, faculty, staff and students to facilitate the development of content.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: Join the Communications Coordinator in creating and writing original and engaging stories; searching internal and external web sources for ideas; interacting with the dean, faculty, administrators, students, staff and departments.
Create and run day to day content production.
Maintain all social media platforms and email distribution platform, including maintaining listservs.
Recommend and apply relevant social media techniques, processes and tools to improve overall results and efficiency.
Analyze trends and opportunities for growth in the social media and marketing field.
Duties, responsibilities, requirements and expectations of this position are subject to change as needed.
The Communications Specialist must demonstrate excellence in customer service principles including friendly, professional communications, timely follow-up and prompt responses.
The successful candidate must have strong organization skills, excellent communication abilities, extensive knowledge in AP writing style and strong editorial skills.
Must be highly creative and self-motivated.
Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of people, such as faculty, staff, students and alumni.
Duty reporting is in-person on the OSU campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Some evenings and weekends are required for special events.

Education & Experience Position Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field.
Demonstrated experience in communications, including, but not limited to social media, video, web, writing, editing and content creation.
Some heavy lifting (25+ lbs) may be necessary.
This is not common.
Preferred Qualifications: Three years of experience in communications, including but not limited to AP writing and editorial style and social media best practices.
Experience in AP writing style.
Experience in social media best practices.
Excellent organization and attention to detail.
Proofreading to ensure accurate and high-quality work.
Ability to work independently and within a strategic communications team.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
Ability to work within existing brand style guides and designs to deliver cross-platform materials relevant for a variety of audiences.
