*CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT* *JOB DESCRIPTION* *SUPERVISOR: CHARGE NURSE AND/OR DIRECTOR OF NURSING, ADON* *QUALIFICATIONS: *Ability to read, write, speak, and follow oral instructions in English.
Completion of certification from Nursing Assistant Program and licensure in Oklahoma is essential.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* 1.
Ability to follow established performance standards and perform duties according to nursing service policies and procedures.
2.
Ability to assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.
3.
Ability to identify special resident problems and report them immediately to Charge Nurse.
4.
Ability to provide direct resident care as assigned.
5.
Ability to conduct resident rounds as assigned.
6.
Ability to initiate corrective action as necessary and/or seek assistance of Charge Nurse, Treatment Nurse or Nursing Supervisor.
7.
Ability to identify safety hazards and emergency situations and initiate corrective action.
8.
Ability to participate in facility education programs as assigned.
9.
Ability to attend all classes as assigned and complete assignments.
10.
Ability to assume personal responsibility for following facility procedures related to control of equipment and supplies within the unit.
11.
Ability to assume accountability for compliance with federal, state and local regulations within the unit assigned and within his/her span of control.
12.
Ability to report unusual problems or incidents to Charge Nurse or supervisor.
13.
Ability to document incidents and/or unusual problems according to established facility procedures.
14.
Ability to participate in resident care conferences and other facility meetings as assigned.
15.
Ability to participate in the development of an individualized plan of resident care for residents assigned.
16.
Ability to review care plans and perform nursing care as outlined.
17.
Ability to document in the nursing assistant notes the care and treatment provided to the resident and the resident’s response or lack of response to care provided.
18.
Ability to report changes in resident’s conditions to Charge Nurse or Nurse Supervisor.
19.
Ability to perform basic nursing skills as outlined in facility C N A protocol.
20.
Ability to follow facility procedures for admission, discharge, and transfer of residents.
21.
Ability to perform oral care on dentures, natural teeth, and edentulous patients.
22.
Ability to listen to resident and family complaints and report problems to Charge Nurse.
23.
Ability to control angry feelings.
24.
Ability to answer call lights.
25.
Ability to serve meal trays to residents and assist as necessary.
26.
Ability to remove trays.
27.
Ability to pull upside rails and roll beds down.
28.
Ability to change incontinent residents.
29.
Ability to walk ambulatory residents.
30.
Ability to take ambulatory residents to bathroom every two hours or as requested.
31.
Ability to make sure all residents are offered nourishment at scheduled times during the shift being worked.
32.
Ability to complete tub baths, showers or bed baths.
33.
Ability to report anything unusual about residents to Charge Nurse.
34.
Ability to turn and reposition all bed and chair residents every two hours or as required by a resident’s condition.
35.
Ability to place bedpans, linens, washbasins and soiled linen in proper area.
36.
Ability to take residents to dining room and assist in feeding, if assigned.
37.
Ability to complete food percentage, intake and output, and bowel and bladder records.
38.
Ability to compare photos on all assigned residents daily and administer assistance to proper resident.
39.
Ability to empty and record all urinary drainage units.
40.
Ability to complete charts on all residents.
41.
Ability to observe infection control procedures and isolation precautions.
42.
Ability to be responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision.
43.
Ability to follow Resident’s Rights policies at all times.
44.
Ability to consistently work cooperatively with residents, charge nurses, treatment nurses, restorative assistants, other nursing assistants, physicians, families, consultant personnel and ancillary service providers.
45.
Ability to observe all facility safety policies and procedures.
46.
Ability to come to work in a clean, neat uniform and consistently present a professional appearance.
47.
Ability to come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality.
48.
Ability to accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.
