NATURE OF POSITION
The intuitive healthcare professional whose diagnostic abilities are only matched by their concern for their patients.
The physician role will be responsible for meeting, assessing and diagnosing patients in the community health center and providing them with healthcare services that meet state and national standards for caregiving.
Responsible for prescribing patients with appropriate medication, health regimens and lifestyle adjustments that will contribute to their recovery from diagnosed health issues, prevent future health issues and/or promote a healthier life.
Display a passion for providing diagnostic services to patients and will enjoy working closely with other healthcare professionals in our organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from a college or university accredited by the American Medical Association with a Doctor of Medicine or Physician Assistant degree or accredited by the American Osteopathic Association with a Doctor or Osteopathy degree.
Successful completion of an approved program of residency training in family practice or related field of medicine.
License to practice medicine in the State of Oklahoma, Board certification in primary care or related field of medicine.
Possesses unrestricted OBNDD and DEA certificate.
Knowledge of the principles and practice of preventive medicine.
Knowledge of the state and federal laws pertaining to medicine and to community health centers.
Knowledge of the structure and function of community health centers.
Skill in communicating effectively with patients and their families.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients, and the general public
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Professionals Certification.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Medical Director
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the primary healthcare team to provide patients with primary medical care services within the standard of care for Internal Medicine patients.
Order laboratory and radiology tests and refer patients to specialists when appropriate and called for and assists in medical care treatment provided at the direction of other specialists.
Analyze reports, test results, medical records and examinations to diagnose condition of patients and recommend treatment options.
Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions.
Discuss potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients and ensure that all allergy information is up-to-date before prescribing medication/treatment.
Provide advice to patients for lifestyle and diet changes that may improve their health or help to treat the health issue they are experiencing.
Provides continuing, comprehensive health maintenance and medical care to the entire family unit, to include preventive medicine, behavioral sciences, dental services and community health.
Participates in surgical, obstetrical, gynecological, and critical care procedures according to training and demonstrated ability.
May teach family practice residents and medical students
Adhere to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws.
Record accurate, complete, and timely in the EMR.
Work with the primary healthcare team to provide patients with primary medical healthcare services that meet state and national standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
