Fleet Manager
Ponca City, OK
This person will work alongside our current Fleet Manager in overseeing our Transportation Division.
You must currently live in the Ponca City area or be willing to relocate to the area to be considered for this position.
This position will oversee the personnel (drivers and mechanics) within our transportation division with direction from the Fleet Manager.
Hire, train and supervise all driver and fleet operations.
Coordinate the operations and logistical functions of the employees in the transportation division while resolving issues as to align employees with our company values and goals.
Expected to be skilled in the daily processes and activities involved for all aspects of managing employees of the petroleum transportation fleet.
Coordinate with the Fleet Manager to ensure a proper balance between employees and equipment availability.
Base schedule of M-F 8a-5p with an expected workweek of 45-50 hours per week, sometimes falling outside of that range.
A company truck will be provided for travel between work sites.

Responsibilities: Will report directly to the Fleet Manager.
Oversee transportation department employees.
Primarily to focus on management of the workforce to achieve daily production goals.
Determine manpower requirements for daily operational needs with input from the dispatch staff.
Aid in the scheduling of routine and urgent maintenance between the drivers and mechanics.
Receive driver concerns and relay concerns to management for resolution.
Coordinate with payroll department to ensure payroll is correct and on time.
Assist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities regarding SOC Transportation services.
Schedule yearly VAPE tests and coordinate with dispatchers to organize inspections.
Ensures adherence to safety rules and regulations as well as DOT compliance.
Directs investigations into causes of customer complaints and responds accordingly.
Enforces compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations.
Coordinate and schedule driver safety meetings.
Manage Cintas account including new employee uniform orders, uniform collection, and invoice reconciliation.
Conducts meetings with all supervisors and employees to keep them up to date with pertinent changes with Shepherd Oil and the trucking industry.
Update truck and trailer permits and check the annual inspection report.
Outfit trailers with necessary hoses and fittings and complete a monthly trailer inventory.
Aid in the process of interviewing driver applicants and conducting road tests.
Coordinate with the safety consultant, Fleet Manager, driver, and insurance company in the case of an SOC driver accident.
Assist the Fleet Manager regarding discipline procedures for drivers and provide training to correct when needed.
Assist in the administration of the Omnitracs electronic log system.
Aid in the ordering of truck tires and follow inventory management controls.
Complete monthly yard inspections of all terminals, including fuel tank inspection.
Communicate effectively via phone and email.
Maintain relationships with vendors and/or other facilities, as well as other trucking companies and their drivers.
Travel will be required between all our transportation locations – expected to be 50% or more travel time.
Effectively lead the team by setting an example in behavior, championing Shepherd Oil values and ensuring that all employees are treated with respect.
Maintains open, accurate and timely two-way communications with driver.
Qualifications: 5 years’ experience in management and operations.
Experience in the delivery/trucking industry required.
Strong preference to experience as a fuel delivery driver.
Must possess exceptional leadership and communications skills.
Must have strong team building talents.
Ability to create, implement and monitor training programs.
Must be organized.
Must have a strong work ethic.
Must possess at least intermediate computer skills and knowledge.
Demonstrated excellence as an empowering leader in a dynamic, fast paced, hands-on environment.
Ability to evaluate alternatives to make best overall value decisions based on considering key factors, cost, customer expectations, driver needs and other factors.
Solid judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills, and a proven record of taking the initiative and responsibility in using those skills effectively individually and as a team member.

Class A CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements are required.
