The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a Teaching Assistant for our General Chemistry program, to begin August 2024.
This position is renewable with appointment terms of three years.
The department desires an applicant who can develop and teach in the General Chemistry program, supervise graduate student teaching assistants and undergraduate student workers, and help with degree program assessment.
The instructional responsibilities will primarily involve lecturing in our Introductory Chemistry and/or General Chemistry courses.
The individual will have the opportunity to help design and organize discussion sections, develop small-size Honors student courses complementing their scientific interests, and assist in other aspects of the undergraduate teaching mission.
For the Teaching Assistant Professor in Organic Chemistry, the department desires an applicant who can oversee the development of new laboratory experiments, supervise graduate student teaching assistants and undergraduate student workers, and help with degree program assessment.
The individual will have the opportunity to teach our non-science major Organic lecture course, develop small-size Honors student courses complementing their scientific interests, and assist in other aspects of the undergraduate teaching mission.
We strongly encourage the Teaching Assistant Professor to develop innovative laboratory methods/materials and strategies that increase efficiency, decrease waste, and enhance student experiences.
The candidates for these positions will work with other faculty on efforts to improve student retention, which could include involvement as a mentor in graduate student groups and our undergraduate student organizations.
Applicants will be expected to support the learning needs of students from all backgrounds and demonstrate a commitment to improving access to higher education for all populations.
