Job Summary:
Oklahoma State University Department of Theatre invites applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Scene Design to begin August 1, 2024.
The scenic design professor in our undergraduate theatre program plays a vital role in shaping the artistic vision and technical skills of our students.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual who is passionate about teaching and mentoring aspiring designers.
Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in design, including design principles, scenic art, properties, and practicum courses.
Collaborate with other faculty members and production teams to integrate scenic design into theatrical productions and interdisciplinary projects.
Mentor and advise students in their design projects, providing constructive feedback and guidance throughout the creative process.
Stay current with advancements in scenic design technology and techniques, and incorporate relevant updates into the curriculum.
Participate in departmental meetings and other activities that contribute to the overall growth and development of the theatre program.

Education & Experience
Position Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Master's or terminal degree in scenic design, theatre design, or a related field.
Previous teaching experience at the college or university level.
Professional experience as a scenic designer or a substantial portfolio of design work in theatrical productions.
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Vectorworks, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively mentor and collaborate with students and colleagues.
