*Activities Assistant (Nursing) – Job Description* *Job Title:* Activities Assistant (Nursing) *Department:* Activities *Reports To:* Administrator *FLSA Status:* Non-Exempt *Effective:* June 4, 2023 *Revised Date: * *SUMMARY: * The Activities Assistant is responsible for carrying out their assigned duties throughout the nursing community.
Coordinate activities and educational programs designed to meet the requirements of the Commons.
Help plan implement, and evaluate activities for nursing residents and patients and assist the Activities Director and Administrator with the designs of programs to encourage socialization, provide entertainment, relaxation, and fulfillment and improve daily living skills.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES *include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
* Assist with the planning, coordinating, and leading activities within the nursing units of the facility.
* Explains and advocates for resident rights to residents, representatives, and staff throughout the community.
* Assists with the movement of nursing residents to and from on-property & off-property events * Participate in activities and required training.
* Works with other team members to efficiently execute activities, programs, and events throughout the entire community * Performs and maintains data input of resident documentation as directed in a timely manner as required.
* Assist the Activities Director and Administrator with the documentation of the activities within the nursing units.
* Reports change in resident status to the Director, nursing staff, or Administrator.
* Assist the Activities Director with the admissions and onboarding of new residents.
* Assist with life enrichment assessments and records as directed and within deadlines.
* Foster a positive relationship with residents and family relationships.
* Assists potential admissions with tours and information about the community.
* Assist with the inventory of resident belongings as needed.
* Assists with grievances as needed.
* Assist with patient and resident moves throughout the community * Assist with the installation and removal of seasonal decorations throughout the community * Works with other departments to coordinate transportation and discharges from the community * Documents and maintains various resources from throughout the community * Attends all meetings, in-service training, and education sessions as assigned.
* Maintains accurate records of observations and services rendered to residents.
* Performs and maintains approved practices of infection control.
* Operate equipment and safely perform duties adhering to company policies and procedures.
* Observe all facility safety policies and Resident's Rights policies.
* Report any unsafe conditions immediately to management.
* Communicate and work cooperatively with facility staff.
* Interact with residents or resident representatives and direct them to appropriate individuals.
* Presents a clean and professional appearance.
* Regular and sustained attendance.
* Performs other duties as assigned by management.

*EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: * * High School diploma or GED preferred * 2-3 years of experience in a related field preferred.
* Demonstrate ability to respond well to supervision and to work independently when appropriate.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: None.
*COMMUNICATION SKILLS: *Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple posts.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
*MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: *Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
*REASONING ABILITY: *Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
Ability to interpret multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
*TECHNICAL SKILLS: *Be able to read and follow instructions and enter records into the electronic tracking system.
Efficiently use phone and intercom system.
Must read, understand, and interpret checklists, procedural guidance, product warning labels, diagrams, or written schedules.
*PHYSICAL DEMANDS: *The physical demands described herein represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

*WORK ENVIRONMENT:* Primary duties are in climate-controlled facilities but may occasionally be exposed to hot and cold temperatures.
Working tasks include wet working conditions.
