Apply today and begin your ownership journey! DAIRY MANAGER PURPOSE STATEMENT: To manage the Dairy Department to maximum sales and profit while maintaining optimum store conditions.
SIGNIFICANT JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: To greet all customers, respond to customer questions/requests and explain store policies in a courteous manner.
To prepare/organize the cooler/freezer for receipt of merchandise, verify the merchandise against the invoice, inspect the delivery for shortages/damage and quality, sort cases for stocking or product preparation and code-date all case items in the cooler/freezer.
To order dairy products and supplies to eliminate out-of-stocks while maintaining the desired dairy turns.
To clean store floors, case, cooler and shelves.
Safely use cleaning equipment and chemicals.
To load stocking carts/pallets, transport cases to sales floor either on stocking carts or pallets, match the case strip to the shelf/case tag/stock, place merchandise in the designated case/shelf/display position/area, check the product code/freshness date and "face/front"/ rotate the front row of each display.
To assure the safety of self, customers and co-workers by understanding and practicing store safety rules and notifying a supervisor of any potential hazard immediately.
Pick up/remove all broken containers, packing materials/boxes from the sales floor or customers pathway immediately.
To understand the operation, safety requirements and restraints of a baler, case-cutter, pallet jack and forklift (must be 18 years or older to operate the pallet jack, forklift and baler).
To count and record individual items of merchandise for inventory.
To move damaged/unsalable and "returnable" products from case/shelves to the backroom, sorting the materials into bins or for return to the damage reclaim center.
To change signs, light bulbs, tags and price-markers on the case/shelf display.
To orient and train new employees on work methods.
To follow the weekly display plan for case merchandising and ad promotion.
To check case and cooler temperatures 4 times daily, utilizing the time keeping system to record these checks.
To file all invoices after recording on the purchase record.
To perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisors and mangers, substituting for absent workers and performing any additional tasks necessary to provide products and services to customers.
QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: Basic mathematical ability (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and ability to count.
Able to give/receive complex verbal instructions/descriptions to/from supervisors/co-workers/employees concerning store/department policy/procedures and use of equipment.
A stable work and educational history.
The ability to read and write English.
Able to read instructions, merchandise labels, warehouse order codes, numbers, reports, printed paper and forms.
Make judgments concerning the placement of merchandise on the shelf/display (spatial relationship), case-opening procedures, extent of unsalable product damage and ordering of new items.
Able to open cases and stock so products will not be damaged.
Able to clearly price mark/label products for customers and cashiers.
Good interpersonal communications.
PREFERRED: High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in a related type job.
Prior experience operating a baler, case cutter, cleaning/sanitation equipment, pallet jack and forklift.
TASKS OF THE JOB This position generally involves: Mobility: Move to perform: the receiving of product, movement of product to the floor or cooler, opening/cutting cases, inspect product quality, sorting of cases/merchandise.
To order merchandise by moving through department/display case/cooler area, maximum 100 yards.
Work on tile or concrete floor for a maximum of 8 hours in duration.
Lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
from 6 inches to 84 inches on to overhead/cooler/freezer storage rack.
Move a maximum of 50 lbs.
up to 15 yards.
Perceive cases, case-cutter edge, case strips, shelf location, product size/ description, customers, co-workers, shelf tags, labels on products, stocking carts, temperature controls, invoice/packing slips, code date, reports, packaging materials, debris on floor, aisle markers, signs and forms used in the operation of the Dairy Department.
Perceive color difference of product and product labels.
Perceive cleaning/maintenance equipment, pallet jacks, forklift, and baler controls.
Respond to customer questions and responses.
Respond to the sound of baler/pallet jack/forklift/cleaning equipment operation.
Use and respond to the intercom/phone system.
Read case labels/strips, signs, tags, shelf signs, code dates, invoices, temperature gauges, reports, numbers, aisle markers, equipment and chemical-warning labels, department forms, and employment records/forms.
Twist at the waist while cleaning, cutting/opening, sorting, load/unloading, moving/removing merchandise and stocking merchandise.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Inside work with extreme variations in temperature, dust and humidity from back door/compressors/cooler/freezer/preparation area.
