ARUC Values:  Teamwork  Quality  Reputation  Hospitality  Balance + Stability Job Summary: What you’ll do Position is full time, reporting directly to the Campus Manager and working with the Executive Culinary Team.
Applicant must be organized, able to lift 50 pounds and attain local certification for safe food handling.
Chef is responsible for preparing meals conforming to nutritional guidelines and product availability while staying within budget and following proper sanitary guidelines.
Our chefs ensure high quality, attractive presentation, and timely service with a creative flair.
Key Responsibilities  Conducting the daily operations of the house kitchen, including but not limited to: food prep, cooking, organizing, cleaning, processing inventory, and orderly maintenance of work spaces and equipment.
 Preparing and serving assigned menu items, including processing meats and vegetables, cooking to and maintaining proper internal temperatures, handling ready to eat foods, weighing and measuring ingredients, and utilizing scrap product.
 Acting as last line of defense between product and customer, such that all food is prepared to standard, high quality, and safe for consumption.
 Maintaining personal health and sanitation standards, including obtaining local food service handling permit, following guidelines laid out in employee manual, and following sanitation procedures for both food handling and waste disposal.
 Interacting with guests/customers – applicant is expected to have a positive attitude and be able to interact positively with house members.
 Filling out daily reports, including communication logs, inventory, incident, product needs, etc.
 Meeting with Campus Manager to discuss meal plans, order food and product, and stay within budget constraints.
 Cleaning dishes, kitchen work spaces, equipment/utensils and may be asked to wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, equipment, etc.
Standards of Operation (for further details, see Employee Handbook/SOPs upon hire) Employee is expected to:  Report to work and be prepared to perform scheduled duties at scheduled time and location.
 Use GroupMe to communicate with management and between other campus house chefs  Arrive wearing clean chef coat or designated t-shirt with Abbey Road insignia, black or checked work pants (preferably no jeans), close-toed non-slip black shoes, appropriate head covering and COVID-19 face covering.
 Respond to requests from clients/guests promptly, professionally, and courteously.
 Adhere to a professional manner throughout working hours, including avoidance of profanity and slang.
 Report all operational concerns immediately to the Campus Manager.
 Keep in contact with management and fellow team members to ensure communication remains open, honest, and consistent.
 Act in ways to encourage teamwork and camaraderie amongst teammates, and discuss future growth goals and potential with higher management.
 Report changes in personal information to management when necessary (moving, change of address, change of name, etc.
)  Park vehicle in designated spaces during work hours  Leave promptly at end of shift – no loitering.
Visits of friends and/or family to workplace must be approved by management ahead of time.
 When at work, remain in food preparation/service areas – culinary team is not allowed in the private areas of the houses.
 Promote company growth by maintaining a positive image and nourishing relationships with clients.
 Retain professional relationships with fellow team members and clients/guests without overstepping those boundaries.
 Record inventory at the close of each week to assist in ordering/shopping lists.
 Perform close-down procedures prior to university vacation closures (Winter Vacation and Summer Vacation) Qualifications An ideal candidate will have minimum 1-2 years’ experience in the culinary industry, preferably back of house.
Basic knife skills, strong organizational skills and cleanliness habits, communication, and time management skills are essential to success.
Applicant should have an ability to operate in a diverse environment and focus on customer service and client needs.
Multitasking while maintaining high quality customer service and interaction is an expected component of the job.
Must be able to lift 50+ pounds at a time, stand for hours on end, execute timely service, and exceed in a fast-paced environment.
Prior culinary experience preferred, as is familiarity with a variety of homestyle dishes.
