The accountant manages and provides oversight of fiscal matters for the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS); confers with and advises CAS members of leadership, department heads, faculty, and staff on matters pertaining to fiscal management.
This position may also recruit, train, evaluate, coach, and supervise the accounting staff assigned to academic departments, and three accounting specialists.
The accountant position reports the college's Director of Fiscal Operations.
Additionally, the accountant:
Interprets unit, college, and university policies to unit heads, faculty, and financial staff.
Keeps the Director of Fiscal Operations apprised of relevant fiscal matters associated with assigned areas.
Supports the Director of Fiscal Operations in the development of budgets for the new fiscal year and input budgets into the Banner system.
Attends University meetings and training sessions related to financial operations and act as a liaison for the college, bringing back information and sharing with/training other college units.
Works with the Director of Fiscal Operations, Coordinator of Business Operations, and the HR Consultant on special projects.
Provides training sessions on select topics for college administrators, faculty, and staff.
Assists other Business office staff with input, reconciliation, and oversight of college funds on an as-needed basis.
Serves as the Director of Fiscal Operations’ proxy and delegate in the event of the director’s absence.

Two years of related experience and a bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or other related disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five years of related experience and experience supervising and an MBA or Master's in Accounting or Finance.
